Ken
was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He first became interested
in sketching and cartooning while still in public school. He
studied fine art throughout his high school years and at Georgian
College.
After college, he spent a number of years in the workplace as
a freelance illustrator; in the art department of an advertising
agency and in
the advertising department of a local newspaper.
At that point, he became interested in woodworking and returned
to Georgian College where he completed the carpentry program. While
working as a carpenter, he discovered that he enjoyed working with
wood as an art medium to create unique decorative pieces of sculpture
and functional furniture. At this point, he knew that he wanted to
blend both carpentry and art as a designer and builder of custom
furniture.
Ken then attended Sheridan College in the wood studio of the Craft
and Design program. His furniture designs display a delightful combination
of uninhibited organic shapes and concepts with solid and functional
execution.
